The major components of each of the QuakeSat subsystems are described below

      The CPU being used for QuakeSat is a PC 104 processor called Prometheus, from Diamond Systems

Features of the Prometheus includes:

  • 16 analog inputs
  • 24 digital I/O lines
  • 4 serial 232 lines
  • 1 parallel port
  • An extended temperature range of -40 to +85

         Linux OS

 

      The two major components of the Communications subsystem are the BayPac BP-96A Modem and the Tekk T-Net Mini 960 radio

Some features of the Comm. subsystem include:

  • 9600 baud data packet radio
  • Half Duplex Comm. System
  • UHF Uplink & Downlink at 436.675MHz
  • 20KHz Bandwidth

     

 

Some features of the ACS subsystem include:

  • Passive Attitude Control
  • 4 ALNICO 8HE Bar Magnets
  • Carpenter 49 High permeability alloy Hysteresis Rods

 

Some features of the Comm. subsystem include:

  • -4 body mounted solar panels

  • 4 double sided deployable solar panels
  • Multi-junction GaAs solar cells
  • Approximately 18% Efficiency 
  • 2 Lithium ion batteries
  • 3.7 V and 1.4 Ah
