On June 30th, 2003 the QuakeSat Nano-sat was launched into space on Eurockot from Plesetsk, Russia. Approximately at 9:08 AM PST, some 18 minutes after deployment from the booster, first contact with QuakeSat was achieved as the small satellite made its fist pass over Stanford University. Four additional passes occurred throughout the same day, and all telemetry received seems to indicate that QuakeSat is in good health, with ample power in its 800km sun-synch orbit above the Earth's surface. Great job to the QuakeSat team, and to all the other international small satellite teams that also projects launched from the same booster including Most, NLS-1 CubeSats, Mimosa, and Cute.
