Tacna, in the southern border area of Peru, has started to develop some interesting activity. The normal pulse count of 0-5 pulses per day has started to increase, especially in the East-West direction as illustrated on the plots to the right (15 on 10/10/2010 and 29 on 10/15/2010). These pulses are still rather small, and could indicate that the underground currents are small---or just farther than 30 km away. The air conductivity sensor is somewhat hampered by high humidity where the readings are not valid above 95% RH. However, on drier days (e.g. 10/07/2010 below), the sensor shows spike-like patterns that have been shown to exist several months prior to other earthquakes. Both of these indicators will be monitored for signs of increased activity.
